The landmark <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ipcc.ch\/assessment-report\/ar6\/\" target=\"_blank\">report from the United Nations on the state of climate science<\/a> offers a sobering account of how human activities have altered Earth\u2019s climate and what those changes might mean for people around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<script async=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-5222637924397992\" crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block; text-align:center;\" data-ad-layout=\"in-article\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-5222637924397992\" data-ad-slot=\"1054784925\"><\/ins>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script>\n\n\n\n<p>This report is the culmination of a marathon five-year assessment, writing, review, and approval process from 234 leading scientists hailing from more than 60 countries, approved by 195 governments. These scientists have worked together to rigorously evaluate the world\u2019s climate change research papers \u2014 more than 14,000 of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The panel in their assessment have warned against things getting worse if greenhouse-gas emissions continue, they made it crystal clear, that the future of the planted depends upon the choice\u2019s human makes today. Xuebin Zhang, a climatologist at Environment Canada in Toronto, Ontario, and a coordinating lead author says, \u201cThe evidence is everywhere: if we don\u2019t act, the situation is going to get worse.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new IPCC climate change report contains several key findings, some of which are listed below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote alignwide\"><blockquote><p>The global surface temperature of Earth rose from 1.1\u00b0C, and is expected to hit 1.5\u00b0C or 1.6\u00b0C by 2030, it is almost 10 years earlier than previously expected. when scientists expect to reach 1.5\u00b0C to the mid-2030s, at which point tipping points such as loss of arctic sea ice, larger-scale die-offs of coral reefs, and thawing of the methane-rich permafrost become much more likely.<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>CO<sub>2<\/sub> has increased from its pre-industrial level of around 280 parts per million (ppm) to an estimated 415 ppm today, with a predicted doubling of CO<sub>2 <\/sub>in the air around 2060. Since the Earth takes time to adjust t increasing CO<sub>2 <\/sub>levels there the rice could mean invertebrates globally losing their habitat, or in the long run, extreme weathers like witnessed by Europe and the US over the past two months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Global ocean rise is approximately 20cm since 1900, and it tripled in the last decade, melting ice sheets over Antarctica. If global warming is capped at 2\u00b0C the ocean watermark will rise to about \u00bd a meter in the 21<sup>st<\/sup> century and approximately 2 meters by 2300.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignwide size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/scialert.net\/jhome.php?issn=1819-1886\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"182\" src=\"https:\/\/scientificworld.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/ajes_ad-1024x182.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3007\" srcset=\"https:\/\/scientificworld.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/ajes_ad-1024x182.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/scientificworld.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/ajes_ad-300x53.jpg 300w, https:\/\/scientificworld.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/ajes_ad-768x136.jpg 768w, https:\/\/scientificworld.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/ajes_ad-370x66.jpg 370w, https:\/\/scientificworld.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/ajes_ad-270x48.jpg 270w, https:\/\/scientificworld.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/ajes_ad-570x101.jpg 570w, https:\/\/scientificworld.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/ajes_ad-740x131.jpg 740w, https:\/\/scientificworld.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/ajes_ad.jpg 1100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Paleoclimatology reminded us that the last time the planet&#8217;s atmosphere was as warm as today, about 125,000 years ago, global sea levels were likely 5-10 meters higher &#8211; a level that would put many major coastal cities underwater.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They warned about methane levels, which is the 2<sup>nd<\/sup> vital greenhouse gas, that it is at their highest in the last 800,000 years. It is more efficient in trapping heat than CO<sub>2<\/sub>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cClimate change is happening, and people feel it,\u201d says Zhang. \u201cThe report just provides scientific validation to the general public that, yes, what you feel is true.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>But the IPCC report also states something even more important: many of the direct effects of climate change can still be avoided if aggressive action is taken now.
